Apple Crisp Ice Cream Topping


Not many people have the time to bake away in the kitchen, however we all love homemade desserts. This apple crisp topping along paired with some vanilla bean ice cream takes no time at all.
I prefer to use granny smith apples in the topping, but any fruit will do. Choose what’s in season and you won’t go wrong!


  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1 cup oats (Do not use instant oatmeal.)
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 3 tablespoons cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 stick butter (8 tablespoons) cut into 1 inch slices
  • 5 Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored and cut into 6 wedges
  • Juice of 1 small lemon
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 pint of ice cream


  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Mix all ingredients together.
  3. Place into a sprayed or greased casserole dish large 12 “oval or round, large enough so that the mixture is evenly spread across the bottom of the dish.
  4. Bake for 45 minutes.
  5. Remove from oven and serve in parfait or large glass.
  6. Add a spoonful of crisp topping, then ice cream alternating layers of each.
  7. It can be served at room temperature; however do this step right before serve so ice cream is not melted.
  8. Serve warm. Enjoy.
