About Debbie

Debra Levy Picard started cooking at the age of 14 to help her busy working parents get dinner on the table. As a child, she was intrigued with cooking and remembers fondly watching Julia Child and writing down her recipes and preparing them for her family. Debra is a self-taught chef who has spent years traveling and adapting recipes from around the world.

Influenced by her family, living abroad, career, a love of the game of golf, and her passion for cooking and entertaining, Debra wrote TASTOSTERONE: The Best Cookbook for Men to provide men with a road map of supplies, tips and recipes for navigating around the kitchen.

Debra has seen cooking come a long way with the development of revolutionary kitchen gadgets, nationally syndicated food shows and the internet, but she knows that one ingredient is still missing – men.

Although there are many professional male chefs, the role of cook at home still falls on the woman. After doing some market research, Debra found that men have a desire to enter the kitchen, but the motivation, support and resources are just not available.

Recent statistics also show that women 30 and under are now taking on other roles around the home and ditching the cooking. This means that men must dive into the role of cook or prepare to lead a bland life. As Debra sees it, If you can’t stand the heat, get out of the kitchen, and it’s only going to get hotter once men gain the confidence to cook.
